Chase Carruth
Co-Founder
CHASE CARRUTH is the driving force behind Twice Chi Productions. Not only is he the co-writer, but also the business side of the company. As Project Developer, he is always on the lookout for unique, gritty, true, character-driven crime stories that can meld into the company’s signature tough, in-your-face style.
Chase was born and raised in Los Angeles but his Chicago roots run deep. His great-grandfather shot loaded dice with some of Chicago’s most notorious North Side gangsters. He still has the old Sir Walter Raleigh tobacco can filled with loaded dice, the drill, mercury for weight, paints and sealers. Chase learned how to palm and roll loaded dice when he was still in grade school.
His family lived in Melrose Park. If you know anything about the Outfit, that town speaks for itself. Between marriage, business and neighbors, Chase’s grandparents and mother walked alongside some shadowy guys with blood on their hands- mobsters, politicians and Chicago police officials. First-hand accounts of bribes, payoffs, murders and corruption that he heard growing up have remained with him. These sparked his interest in the stories in which Twice Chi Productions specializes.
He is a recent graduate from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School with a Masters in Science, specifically in Business Analytics. Chase has developed and improved business plans for several companies, including both “for-profit” and “nonprofit” businesses. He also has overhauled a number of companies by improving their data handling. He brings these skills to Twice Chi Productions. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Cal State Northridge. This degree gives him an insight into some of the characters in these stories- how they thought and why they acted the way they did. That awareness helps the team delve deep into the characters to add another layer of dimension. Chase also has taken screenwriting courses through Pasadena City College and screenwriting workshops.
Andy Edmonds
Co-Founder
ANDY EDMONDS brings to the team a wealth of true stories about the Mob, murder, power, and corruption. As co-writer and a Los Angeles television news Emmy and Golden Mike award-winning writer and producer for KNBC and KCBS, she learned how to tell a story concisely and accurately and hook a viewer in. But that is only the beginning. She also is a published author of six books including Bugsy’s Baby, Frame-Up, and Hot Toddy. Hot Toddy was produced by Mace Neufeld as an NBC-TV movie. Andy also was a Special Projects producer for NBC Productions and has penned articles on Los Angeles history for LA Magazine, was a script doctor for many crime movies and TV shows, and ghost writer for several highly acclaimed published biographies.
Growing up in Chicago, Andy went to school with the sons and daughters of infamous gangsters whose names are still recognized and feared today. Family friends were “connected”, neighbors were “made”. She sat at the kitchen table of a famous mob doctor, quietly listening to stories from wise guys just out of jail- beating RICO or murder raps- or just back from “taking care of business”.
A neighbor two blocks down was the hitman who whacked Sam Giancana. He had a basement full of luxury items that “fell off the truck”. He laundered jewelry stolen by the Chief of Detectives who was eventually jailed. Her high school graduation was a casino tour of the Dunes where Tony Spilotro pointed out which slots paid and how often to pull. Concert tickets to Frank Sinatra were handed to her by The Chairman himself. She rode along when Teamster’s pension funds were handed over to Mob Banker Allen Dorfman in a dark parking lot.
Mostly, it was Andy’s passion for history, true stories and detail that brought her from Chicago to Los Angeles, transforming her from news writer to crime author. She brings this passion and a wealth of never-before-seen true stories to Twice Chi Productions.
